Attic Cap and Roof Decking

Roof Decking According to the US Department of Energy, up to 80% of your homes energy loss could be through your attic. Isenberg Spray Foam Insulation has two methods for insulating an attic.

Attic Cap

In this method the existing insulation is removed from the floor of the attic and is replace by 5 to 6 inches of our Open Cell Foam Insulation. This method is used when the attic above is “dead space”, meaning there are no HVAC Systems, ductwork, or plumbing above that would need to be in a conditioned space.

Roof Decking

This method involves spraying the actual roof decking of the attic with 5 to 6 inches of our Open Cell Foam Insulation. In this method the Open Cell Foam creates a conditioned space in the attic which will remain within 10-20 degrees of the homes temperature. This is by far the most energy efficient way of insulating an attic. This method is used when a home has HVAC Systems, ductwork, or plumbing that needs to be in a conditioned space. This method also allows the attic to be used for conditioned space storage, essentially adding square footage to your home.
